You need to have Windows 10 build version 20145 (or higher).

Install Microsoft Windows Insider Program ( But there’s a roundabout way to compress it, don’t worry) Another reason is, once it expand, it will not shrink automatically no matter how much files/packages that you uninstalled within WSL distribution. So if you have limited space in system drive (C:), it’s better to use second drive for separate WSL2 distribution. So you will have an expanding virtual disk on your C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Packages. (you CANNOT use your stable release of Windows 10)

  • Use the latest build from the Microsoft Windows Insider Program.
  • The fact that CUDA in WSL2 is still in develop state means that you may find some hit or miss.
  • Image source: NVIDIA Developer Zone Important Notes Before Begin Currently there is 2 version of WSL: WSL and WSL2 with differences as follow: Because it’s “containerized” environment, there is no need to do dual-boot and managing it is as easy as installing apps from Windows store. WSL is a Windows 10 feature that make it possible to run native Linux command-line tools directly on Windows. Here is how I set-up and some notes about it: First thing First Granted! CUDA now can be used within WSL2. While I do have access to GPU server, I would like to test my code with small sample locally without any need to stay connected all the time. One of my requirement is to use GPU to train my machine learning. So at most of the time I’m literally put my one leg on Windows while the other need to stay still on Linux.

However, being work in scientific field require me to use tools and software that mostly available in more popular OS such as Windows while not many provided for MacOS (good thing I’m not a fanboy). I do work with computational chemistry/biochemistry. But unfortunately I’m not much as a “programmer” myself. You may say that I can just use Linux as a daily driver. It means that I no need to do dual boot, using emulator that takes more resource than pristine Linux itself, and many other hassle. Yes, it is not ready for a production system, and yes, it is alpha status software.Updated: New, easy way which not involved an image can be found here.Įver since Windows launching their subsystem for Linux (WSL), I really excited. Last but not least, I'd be very happy to see this go into the official portage tree again. So it would have to go into /usr/share/pearpc-0.5/scripts/settings, right? What is in there? An example file would be great.Īlso I noticed that this settings file is installed to /usr/share/pearpc-0.5/settings, but the scripts that reside there (namely ifppc_up and ifppc_down) source this settings file from "./scripts/settings". See upstream for example (although this would be for version 0.4, as this message is from 2004). (And is terribly slow!)įrom the ebuild, I applied the interface selection patch, as GTK and Qt are broken at the moment. I don't know if it will work with another PPC OS, like BeOS or Linux/PPC.Īnyway, with USE="-jit" (which is the default) it works.

My ARCH is amd64, and it seemed to build fine with the jit_x86_64 cpu selected, but when I run Mac OS X with it (Panther, Tiger) it displays the Apple logo and sits there forever. I added some patches in the comments above.

I've found this bug and I'm happy that there acutally is an ebuild available. Only the mouse position is occationally offset (it will no longer be able to move to one of the corners of the screen, but this is fixed by moving the mouse to the opposite corner once).Īlso, releasing the mouse from the emulator window (by pressing F12) does work as expected.

The lock-up parachute removed the freezes, thus the system (inside the emulation) will continue to be usable. When I run PearPC with Mac OS X (any version, really) I get these errors and the emulation freezes:
